The event
The “Advanced Course on Diagnosis and Treatment of Metabolic Diseases” has been held annually since 2005, with the objective of spreading knowledge in the area of Inborn Errors of Metabolism, promoting the integration of experienced specialists and researchers with young doctors and other health professionals interested in the field, coming from Brazil and all-over Latin America. Participants are encouraged from the beginning to interact with faculty members to discuss current issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of genetic metabolic diseases. The course includes lectures, interactive activities, case discussions, live interviews with patients and laboratory practices. The target audience includes physicians, graduate students and young researchers interested in inborn errors of metabolism. Candidates are selected according to their specific interest, potential application of the course to their practice and curriculum, always seeking representation from various services of Brazil and other countries.
Target Audience
The course is aimed at medical doctors from areas related to Inborn Errors of Metabolism, as Medical Genetics, Pediatrics, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Nutrology, Endocrinology, among several others. Dietitians, Nurses and other healthcare professionais and researchers from the IEM field are also welcome.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Each participant must organize their own trip to Porto Alegre.
Discounted accommodation will be offered at the course hotel (Hotel Quality Porto Alegre), but each participant will be able to book their accommodation at the location they find most convenient.
Due to the great interest in the course and the limited number of places available, the Organizing Committee will analyze the applications submitted and inform the names of the candidates selected for the course by June 5, 2024.
A registration fee of USD 200 (or BRL 1000) will be charged, which includes the course itself and most meals. After announcing the selected candidates, a link for payment by credit card will be sent.
As the course will be conducted in English, a reasonable understanding of the English language is recommended to candidates.
